오늘날 세계는 국가 간 갈등과 협력, 경제·안보·문화의 상호의존, 그리고 급변하는 국제질서 속에서 새로운 이해와 연대의 방향을 요구받고 있습니다. 이에 우리 연구소는 국제관계를 단순한 외교와 정치의 영역을 넘어, 인류 공동의 평화와 지속가능한 미래를 모색하는 학문적·실천적 플랫폼으로 발전시키고자 합니다.
국제관계이해연구소는 역사와 국제정세에 대한 깊이 있는 연구를 바탕으로 학술대회, 교육, 정책 제안, 국제 교류 및 시민 참여 활동 등을 추진하며, 국내외 전문가와 시민사회가 함께 소통할 수 있는 장을 만들어가고 있습니다. 또한 한반도와 동아시아를 비롯한 세계 평화와 협력 증진을 위해 실질적인 담론과 대안을 제시하는 데 최선을 다하고 있습니다.
특히 우리는 과거의 역사 속에서 오늘의 국제질서를 이해하고, 미래세대가 평화와 공존의 가치를 이어갈 수 있도록 지식과 실천을 연결하는 역할에 집중하고 있습니다.

Welcome to the Institute for Understanding International Relations (IUIR).
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all of you for visiting our website.
Today’s world demands a new direction of understanding and solidarity amidst escalating interstate conflicts and cooperation, the deep interdependence of economy, security, and culture, and a rapidly shifting global order. In response to these dynamics, our institute seeks to advance the study of international relations beyond the traditional realms of diplomacy and politics, transforming it into an academic and practical platform to pursue shared human peace and a sustainable future.
Grounded in in-depth research on history and global affairs, IUIR organizes academic conferences, develops educational programs, proposes policy recommendations, and facilitates international exchanges and civic engagement. Through these initiatives, we strive to build a vibrant arena where domestic and international experts, as well as civil society, can connect and communicate. Furthermore, we are fully committed to presenting practical discourses and alternatives to promote peace and cooperation in the Korean Peninsula, East Asia, and across the globe.
In particular, we focus on understanding today's international order through the lens of past history, dedication ourselves to bridging knowledge and practice so that future generations can carry forward the values of peace and coexistence.
Going forward, IUIR will continue to bridge academia and the field, linking the local with the global. We are dedicated to growing into a responsible research institution that contributes to a better international society and a peaceful future.
